Dateline Movies Presents: Top Courtroom Actions in a Movie

It's just good to watch how actors/actresses play their respective roles in a movie, more especially in courtroom scenes.  Seeing them in action makes one really think that they are actual attorneys or lawyers in real life.  With their convincing speeches, facial expressions, their realistic depiction of courtroom strategies and techniques, as well as the tone of their voices, makes one really want to stand up and applaud them for their performances.  Herewith are my top five courtroom actions that are just too memorable and worth watching over and over again.

My Cousin Vinny

source
My Cousin Vinny stars Joe Pesci, Ralph Macchio, Marisa Tomei, Mitchell Whitfield and Fred Gwynne.  It was directed by Jonathan Lynn and was released on March 13, 1992.

Joe Pesci's acting is just humorous and at the same time very convincing.  For her resounding performance, Marisa Tomei won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress at the 65th Academy Awards in 1993.

Primal Fear is about a Chicago defense attorney by the name of Martin Vail, played by Richard Gere, who always wants to take on sensational, high-level court cases to be on the spotlight.  Thinking that by taking on the case of an altar boy named Aaron Stampler, played by Edward Norton, who has been accused of viciously attacking and murdering an Archbishop would bring him more fame and glory, well, let's just say, he will be in for a big surprise.   Edward Norton's portrayal of the role earned for him numerous praises from several award-winning bodies, most notable of which is his nomination for Best Supporting Actor at the 69th Academy Award.

Movie Fact: Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse

source
Mickey Mouse was voiced for more than 30 years by a talented sound effects editor and foley artist, Wayne Anthony Allwine from 1977 to the year 2009 while Minnie Mouse was voiced by Russi Taylor since 1986. They got married in 1991.

Wayne Allwine was born on February 7, 1947 in one of the cities in the Los Angeles County called Glendale.  He started to provide Mickey Mouse's distinctive falsetto voice in The New Mickey Mouse Club Show in 1977 and in 1983 he gave the voice of Mickey in the 1983 film Mickey's Christmas Carol. Since Mickey Mouse first debut in the 1928 short film Steamboat Willie, there were only four people who provided Mickey's voice - the first was Walt Disney himself, followed by Jimmy Macdonald in 1947, third was Wayne Allwine in 1977 and Bret Iwan who currently provides Mickey's voice.  Allwine was an Emmy Award and a Golden Reel winner.

source
Rusell "Russi" Taylor was born in Cambridge, a city in the Middlesex County, Massachusetts on May 4, 1944.  She succeeded Ruth Clifford in providing the voice of Minnie Mouse since 1986.   She has also provided the voices in several cartoon characters from the series like The Simpsons, Duck Tales, Scooby Doo, The Flintstones, Strawberry Shortcake, Smurfs and the Muppets, just to name a few. But the one that she holds dear to her heart is providing the voice of Minnie Mouse. Wayne and Russi made their own production company and called it Taylor-Allwine Associates.

They were both named Disney Legends in 2008.

On May 18, 2009, Wayne passed away due to complications of acute diabetes at the age of 62.

Dateline Movie Spotlight: Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman

We may not have given much thought on that girl from the movies like ...

source1 source2

- Date Night, a comedy crime movie released in 2010 starring Steve Carell and Tina Fey and directed by Shawn Levy where she appeared in a small role as Mark Wahlberg's girlfriend from Israel named Natanya...
source1 source2
- Knight and Day, an action comedy movie also released in 2010 starring Tom Cruise and Cameron Diaz and directed by James Mangold.  Remember the girl Tom Cruise met in Cadiz, Spain named Naomi who is a representative of an arms dealer..

But with three movies in the Fast and the Furious series and with more screen time, I'm pretty sure, she has caught your attention. She played the role of Gisele Yashar, a liaison for a local drug lord named Arturo Braga in Fast and Furious 4. In Fast and Furious 5, she was recruited to become a member of Dominic Toretto's (Vin Diesel) team.  And in Fast and Furious 6, she made a dramatic scene by sacrificing her life to save her boyfriend Han (Sung Kang).

Still doesn't ring a bell?

Well, when an announcement was made in December 2013 by Warner Brothers regarding DC Entertainment's next film, the sequel to the Man of Steel movie to be directed by Zack Snyder titled Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice, wherein they will feature Ben Affleck as the new Batman in replacement of Christian Bale, Henry Cavill again reprising his role as Superman and the entry of a new heroin to the movie world, the princess from the Amazons, Princess Diana of Themyscira or popularly known as Wonder Woman, to be played by Israeli model-actress Gal Gadot, that certainly caught our attention.

When the new trailer (the second trailer) from the upcoming movie Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice came out recently, seeing for the first time Gal Gadot as Diana Prince and as Wonder Woman in action, her snippet appearances are just fan-pleasing and exhilarating.

 source

She smashes her indestructible metal bracelets ( in the comic world it is called the Bracelets of Submission which is made of amazonium and is supposed to be magically made by the Greek Goddess Aphrodite) together and creates a somewhat explosive and powerful effect just like a shockwave.  WOW! If Fix-It Felix from Wreck It Ralph saw it, his reaction would be the same as mine... "She's one dynamite GAL!"

And just a bit of information about Gal Gadot.  She was born on April 30, 1985 in the City of Rosh HaAyin, right at the heart of Israel.  She has served at the Israeli Defense Forces for two years and is very well skilled in hand weapons and is very athletic having played basketball, volleyball and tennis.  She is also a great dancer.  She also loves driving a motorcycle.  In 2004, she won the Miss Israel beauty pageant and won, thus representing her country in the Miss Universe Beauty Pageant of 2004.  And yes guys before I forget, she is already married to an Israeli businessman named Yaron Varsano.  They were married on September 28, 2008 and they now have a daughter named Alma.

The movie Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice, is set to be shown on March 25, 2016.

And who cannot miss the unforgettable movie, Blake Edwards's Breakfast at Tiffany's in 1961, where she wore the famous little black dress and plays the role of a fashionista named Holly Golightly and also stars George Peppard,
Patricia Neal and Buddy Ebsen.  Also worth mentioning are her movies which shows her versatility as an actress like the lesbian-themed movie The Children's Hour in 1961 opposite Shirley MacLaine and James Garner and the suspense-thriller movie Charade in 1963 with Cary Grant. She would make a movie again with William Holden, the first one was in the movie Sabrina,  it is titled Paris When It Sizzles in 1964, a comedy movie.   Noteworthy films of Audrey Hepburn includes the controversial movie, My Fair Lady in 1964, playing the role of Eliza Doolittle with actor Rex Harrison, How to Steal a Million in 1966 with Peter O'Toole, Two for the Road in 1967 with Albert Finney, Wait Until Dark with Richard Crenna also in 1967.  After a long absence she made several comeback movies like the one with Sean Connery in the 1976 titled Robin and Marian,  the novel by Sidney Sheldon,  Bloodline in 1979 with Ben Gazzara, James Mason, Romy Schneider, Omar Sharif and Irene Papas.

Who's ready to go to war? Welcome once again to Dateline Movies, and today, we'll be discussing one of the most exhilarating and potentially breathtaking crossovers that's yet to come, aside from Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice, Captain America: Civil War!

Before we head out into the superhero battlefield, readers who saw that we might have ticked-off Deadpool after we tried to show him the door politely, which didn't go as planned. And now, it looks like he's sharpening his knives and he'll kill us for that on our upcoming Spotted! Part 10: Deadpool! We need your help so that Deadpool would kill us. You can share, like, tweet or anything just to save our heads! An advanced "thank you" is in order.

Now that we stopped begging, let's hop to it! Also, do note that we are using a fan-made trailer again, (credits to Alex Luthor), and although a partial synopsis has been released, a comic book story arc entitled "Civil War", which will be the source material of the film, will be used to add more information!

Source

What we saw in the trailer?

Note that in the very first Spotted!, I made some guesses on how Civil War may go down. The following synopsis has been altered due to the new details given.

Following the action that took place in The Avengers: Age of Ultron, the United States Government have grown tired of the endless destruction that the heroes have always left behind after every throw-down (engaging in fights). As such, the Superhuman Registration Act has been implemented to control the violence. This law clearly states that all superhumans must reveal their alter-egos to the public, and must work 24/7 for the government.

Iron Man, played by Downey Jr. (A Scanner Darkly), Black Widow, played by Johansson (Don Jon), War Machine, played by Cheadle (Ocean's Eleven) Hawkeye, played by Renner (Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol) and The Vision, played by Bettany (Mortdecai), Captain America, played by Evans (The Iceman), Scarlet Witch, played by Olsen (Martha Marcy May Marlene), the Falcon, played by Mackie (Pain and Gain), the Winter Soldier, played by Stan (Black Swan), Ant-Man, played by Rudd (I Love You, Man), and Agent 31, played by VanCamp (Revenge) make their return in this film, and are at war with each other!

Old enemies return, as HYDRA agent Baron Zemo, played by Brühl (Rush), with his assailant Crossbones, played by Grillo (The Purge: Anarchy), is out for vengeance. Wakandan hero and emperor, the Black Panther, played by Boseman (Draft Day), enters the stage as well, but with his own agenda.

Spotted! Hidden Surprises and Trivia (Spoiler Alert!)

Source

1. "I'll Be Seeing You": For our first hidden surprise, although not really as it is already confirmed, Peggy Carter dies of old age. This has been expected already as we saw her on a very critical state in The Winter Soldier movie, and come on, do your Math! The character has already been around since the 40s!

Source
2. Not Morgan Freeman's Son: This is a good one! You might have known him as that guy who played Bilbo Baggins in The Hobbit Trilogy, and that guy who played Dr. John Watson in the Sherlock series. He is Martin Freeman! That's right Marvel fans, Martin Freeman will be joining the already large cast of Captain America: Civil War! Until today, the role is currently undisclosed from the public. Mark Millar even gave us a clue on who he might be! Here are some guesses. I would be excluding any character that 20th Century Fox currently has rights to, or anything that is really far-fetched. So fans, don't expect Captain Britain, Union Jack, Pete Wisdom or adult Spider-Man here.
This one is the likeliest. According to Umberto Gonzales, Martin Freeman may be someone who will interrogate the Black Panther for information, and he'll be reprising that role in a future Black Panther movie. The closest to fit the description is Everett Ross, an escort of the Black Panther and a member of the U.S. State Department.
A politician, Henry Gyrich is a long-time annoyance to the superhero community. He often fears those who have superpowers as something worse than death! This one has only mild sense, as Henry Gyrich has no connection to the Black Panther except when he is inserted into the story!
This one is almost impossible, since as you might have read in our fan-cast post, J.K. Simmons is the pure embodiment of J. Jonah Jameson! But then again, Marvel looks as if they are starting fresh! Martin Freeman proved from time-to-time that he can be a no-nonsense, fast-talking, sarcastic yet admirable fellow!
Now for the more far-fetched guesses! Another Spider-Man related entry, Norman Osborn / The Green Goblin, who was memorably portrayed by Willem Dafoe in the original trilogy, has been a thorn on Spidey's side for many years! I have never heard of a Martin Freeman sinister performance before, so maybe this could be his chance to stretch his acting limits! This may not be true, as rumors are swirling that Matthew McConaughey is being eyed for the role.
A lot of Marvel fans have already heard of the confirmation that an Inhumans film is in the works. Although a little, if not really crowded, this films could make some references to the Inhumans, just as how the show, Agents of SHIELD debuted them! If you could compare the two of them, Martin Freeman and Maximus looks almost identical.

  • Edward Chase
This is tricky! It is possible that Martin Freeman's character already appeared in Age of Ultron, but you can neither see nor hear him. Remember that one scene with Ulysses Klaue? He could be the man Klaue was talking to at the other end of the line. He is an original character named Edward Chase, the British Prime Minister who is smuggling Wakandan weapons from Klaue!

Source
3. The Enemy Of My Enemy: Many actors and actresses have reprised their respective roles for this film, but one of the surprising returns was that of William Hurt's "Thunderbolt" Ross character. Not only does it proved that the Incredible Hulk film has a connection to the universe, and not some out-of-place filler, it also increased the number of possible stories that could be integrated into the franchise. We could be seeing the return of Hulk's supporting cast. Wait, will we also see Ross transforming into the Red Hulk? Yes, please!

Source
4. The Black Panther Rises!: One of the newest characters to make their first appearance is the Black Panther. However, unlike the other heroes joining the fight, he prefers to remain on his own side, and mostly departing from what the comic book said. There is a pretty interesting reason for that. We know that the Winter Soldier took part in a lot of terrorist attacks. It is possible that the Winter Soldier left a part of Wakanda in ruins, and is enraged by it. He also didn't join Iron Man because he saw what happened the last time he visited. In addition, a supposed leaked script suggests that both Iron Man and Black Panther are after Bucky.

5. Fight As One!: Even with the large amount of details the flick already has to offer, a few major characters from the comic book stories are currently missing from the confirmed cast. It could be possible Marvel may be inserting a few cameos, or maybe we won't be seeing a few of them after all. Here are some possible appearances. Do note that all characters listed are only those that Marvel currently has rights to, and these characters have debut at least once in the cinematic universe. Any out-of-place ideas (such as the Guardians of the Galaxy) are not included! Nick Fury, the Hulk and Thor won't be in this film by the way, as it was confirmed by each of the actors
Spider-Man is almost the primary focus of the entire Civil War arc, so without Spider-Man in the picture, Civil War would almost be impossible. Besides, everybody needs to see the Iron Spider in action. It was a miracle that Sony and Marvel mended their differences to give us a Spider-Man that will do the character some justice. Tom Holland will play Spider-Man.
Captain Marvel, or sometimes addressed as Ms. Marvel, is part of Iron Man's team. Even though much of her part in the story involved mostly action, her role is nevertheless integral. As of now, the actress who will play Captain Marvel is unknown.
Hank Pym, instead of Scott Lang, as it was seen in the movies and although an impostor played half of his part in the comics, held the mantle of Ant-Man. Being a scientific mind just like Iron Man, Hank Pym will sides most likely with the Pro-Registration Act, and might serve as Scott's guide in film. He is retired after all. Michael Douglas played Hank Pym.
Okay, he died on the previous film, but that doesn't mean he can't be brought back from the dead. A lot of clues already point out that he may be back after all. And come on, we need someone who will handle a crazed cyborg in Thor's place, and what better way to do that than bringing back Quicksilver, but brainwashed. Aaron Taylor-Johnson played Quicksilver.
They are the reasons why you can't stop watching Netflix. Even though these characters' roles are very important, yet somehow small, in the story, we need a few extra hands to aid our star-spangled freedom fighter. Charlie Cox played Daredevil. Kristen Ritter, Mike Colter, Jon Bernthal and Benedict Cumberbatch (although will appear more in movies, and will probably stick more on the neutral side) will play Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, the Punisher and Doctor Strange respectively. Who will play Iron Fist is currently unknown.
You either believe or you don't in Joss Whedon's thoughts, but admit it, you miss Coulson on the big screen. Phil Coulson and his ragtag team of agents are currently enjoying success on the small screen, but they are still SHIELD, an ex-government sponsored agency. To paraphrase, most of the people you saw in the show, and in the movies as long as they are members, may appear, except for Nick Fury.
  • Supporting Characters
Now for the less superpowered side. There is no need to explain this, but just to clarify, our heroes could use some moral support. To paraphrase again, almost all of our heroes' friends may appear, with the addition of Marisa Tomei as Aunt May?
  • Villains That Are Still Alive
Villains are mostly unfortunate in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, for they never seem to make it out alive after every battle. Since everyone that has superpowers will be involved, the bad guys who taunted our heroes may most likely make an appearance, even if it is the shortest shot.

6. A Bundle Of Joy: According to joblo.com, a lot of juicy details have arisen in the net. So allow me to enumerate all of them in the shortest way possible, and at the same time, the catchiest as possible.
  • New Wardrobe For Hawkeye
  • Ant-Man Will Become A "Giant-Man" (Pun Intended)
  • War Machine Gets "Tanked" (Pun Intended Again)
  • Ant-Man Rides On A Trick Arrow
  • Falcon's Bird, Redwing, Is Now A Drone
  • Captain America's Knight-Like Armor?
 Did you get all that?

Source
7. Side-by-Side?: Man this sure does feel like The Avengers 2.5, with it's large cast and all! Most of you might be asking right now, "Whose side are you on?", or better yet, "Which side will our heroes choose?". As a comic book reader, I have done my part in researching a lot of things. While I was snooping around, I was able to learn which side the Marvel Heroes would be on, and below are lists of each sides' members. This one is for the confirmed characters only, as the rumored appearances are to be added only when confirmed. The sides may change depending on the film's version of the story. And now for our final Hidden Surprise, here are the possible rosters! I won't be the one to explain this time, because I'll leave that task to you. Let us know in the comments section of your own members lists.

Pro-Registration Act Members
  • Tony Stark / Iron Man (Leader)
  • Lt. Col. James Rhodes / War Machine
  • Clint Barton / Hawkeye
  • Scott Lang / Ant-Man
  • Natalia Romanova / Black Widow

Anti-Registration Act Members
  • Steve Rogers / Captain America (Leader)
  • Bucky Barnes / Winter Soldier
  • Sam Wilson / Falcon
  • Sharon Carter / Agent 13
  • The Vision
  • Wanda Maximoff / Scarlet Witch
Deadpool: Well, well, well! Look what we have here.

Dad: What do you want now Deadpool?

Deadpool: Still aching to kill the two of you. Got to say, that is one long article of yours.

Me: There is such a thing as a "long post". You probably haven't heard of it.

Deadpool: Oh I've heard of it. You're not the only one who goes to 9gag for the "lolz".

Dad: So are you going to keep interrupting us? Every post?

Deadpool: Not all the time. I gotta do my movie after all. Anyway, I gotta fly. Ciao!
