Change is coming, or changes to be exact. Welcome back to Dateline Movies and join me as we tackle possibly one of the most debated reboot films of the year. I know some might complain with the several changes going in their direction, but let's not dwell so much on what we see as bad, and instead see these as a chance to see a dark and brooding version to the beloved comic books. But still, it is a reboot, so reviews and opinions may vary. And here we go, for our second Spotted! post.

What we saw in the trailer?

With some guidance from the leaked script, I was able to piece together the story. The brilliant Reed Richards, played by Teller (Whiplash) has discovered a way to enter an inter-dimensional universe. This leads to him grabbing the attention of the government, including a think-tank known as the Baxter Institute. Reed's best friend Ben Grimm, played by Bell (The Adventures of Tintin) gleefully joins the experiment, alongside the siblings Susan, played by Mara (127 Hours) and Johnny Storm, played by Jordan (Chronicle). Computer programmer Victor Domashev, played by Kebbell (Dawn of the Planet of the Apes) assists in navigating the crew in their expedition.

The ambitious discovery has taken a fateful turn when their portal malfunctions and grants each one of them superhuman powers. Reed can now stretch his limbs to a longer scale, Susan can disappear in thin air, Johnny receives fire powers and Ben has a body made of stone. Victor gains seemingly electromagnetic abilities and, for the sake of comic book fans everywhere, uses it against his friends. Reed, Johnny, Ben and Sue must band together and prevent "Doom" from achieving victory.

Spotted!: Hidden Surprises and Trivia (Spoiler Alert!)

1. Home Sweet Home: Let's start things off with possibly, by far, the only hidden surprise we could all find. In the scene where Sue was tinkering with some computers, some locations were pinpointed and one is pointed within the European border. For hardcore readers like yours truly, these are the possible coordinates to Latveria, Doom's home country. Would we see the team fighting in Doom's humble abode? More importantly, we heard that Doom may be making a robot army. I hope we see that.

2. The Good Die Young: Since there aren't much things to search for, let me put you up to speed on how the film might go down. Fans instantly knew that the movie will be inspired by the Ultimate Fantastic Four stories. In these comics, the entire team is comprised of younger versions of the members. The origin story is just the same with the comics, wherein the team goes inside a portal but disaster strikes. Doom is here as well, but his real name here is Victor Van Damme, instead of having the surname Domashev. Basically we would be seeing an experiment gone horribly wrong and the team has to recover from the aftermath, which strangely sounds like the 2005 version of the movie.

3. A Romance That Never Was: A tip hinted that Reed and Sue would not get along as a couple from the very beginning. In the comics, Reed and Sue were engaged, but Sue later denies his proposal. As a result of this tragedy, Reed was not able to cope and his life started to tear apart, leading to Reed becoming some what a Doctor Doom himself. Will Reed turn against his friends soon?

4. From the Depths...: In addition to villains and for our last trivia, Tim Blake Nelson will portray the Fantastic Four's first ever enemy, the Mole Man. In the original version, he is Harvey Elder, which is also his alter-ego here, a former scientist who discovered an ancient race of underground cave-dwellers known as the Moloids. Since this is the Ultimate line-up we are talking about, we will assume that this is more of his Ultimate counterpart. His origin is similar to that of the original, but he is an employee of the Baxter Institute who goes by the name Arthur Moekevic and the Moloids are his creations. Would Doom be bringing back-up? Or will he be the big bad of their upcoming sequel that was untimely announced?

I really cannot wait to see this upcoming Marvel movie which is set to be released on August 7, 2015.  Fantastic Four is made by Marvel Entertainment and 20th Century Fox, the same studio that brought us X-Men: Days of Future Past.  I hope this reboot will not disappoint.
