ATTENTION EVERYONE!!!  It's that time of the year again for FREE COMIC BOOK DAY.  Hooray!!!

Celebrated annually every 1st Saturday of May, Free Comic Book Day is now on its 13th year.  Free Comic Book Day is the brainchild of Joe Field, who first proposed the idea on his column in Comics and Games Retailer Magazine.  The first Free Comic Book Day was held on May 4, 2002, one day after the opening day of the first Spider-Man movie starring Tobey Maguire.

Most action movies based on comic books had their opening day on the first week of May.  Some examples are X-Men 2 in 2003, Spider-Man 3 in 2007, Iron Man in 2008, X-Men Origins: Wolverine in 2009, Iron Man 2 in 2010, Thor in 2011, The Avengers in 2012, Iron Man 3 in 2013, The Amazing Spider-Man 2 in 2014 starring Andrew Garfield and the soon to be released movie Avengers 2 - Age of Ultron will have its North America opening day on May 2015.

Free Comic Book Day has three (3) primary objectives: first, to promote comic books as a great medium for everyone to enjoy, love and appreciate; second, to bring back all those people who in one way or another, have once in their lives have enjoyed reading comic books; and lastly, to thank all the people who have supported and appreciated comic books.

Watch the video below featuring Stan "The Man" Lee promoting Free Comic Book Day.

Here in the Philippines,  Free Comic Book Day is also celebrated and it is spearheaded by Fully Booked for the past 8 years.  It's flagship branch located at Bonifacio High Street in Taguig will not only give one, not just two, but three comic books  per person. No purchase is necessary to avail of these free comic books.  Just visiting the place entitles one to avail of the free comic books.  But this is on a first come, first served basis, so I suggest you come early.  We always come there and there are lines outside the store, so I advise you to do come early.
